BIOGRAPHY

Jhimae is a public servant with a heart for people and she is deeply driven to uplift the communities she champions. She envisions St. Louis as a place that will overcome systemic barriers and foster the opportunity for residents to have an abundant life, without regard to zip code or socioeconomic status. Throughout Jhimae’s personal and professional capacity, she has actively used her voice as a tool to advocate for equitable policies that enhance the welfare of St. Louisans. With a well-rounded understanding of the challenges facing marginalized communities, she aims to leverage her expertise to contribute to the community economic development ecosystem to drive positive change and transformation. 

Jhimae’s professional experience includes government administration, urban planning, and the nonprofit sector, providing her with a unique perspective gained from serving communities representing a broad range of backgrounds. 

Before joining Invest STL, Jhimae served as a Congressional Staffer for former United States Congresswoman Cori Bush, managing office operations and coordinating community and legislative events for Missouri’s First Congressional District. Prior to that, she worked at Dutchtown South Community Corporation and was responsible for the Gravois-Jefferson Historic Neighborhoods Plan Implementation programming and established the framework for their resident-led Development Review Committee. She began her career as a Planning Technician for St. Charles County Government and provided technical assistance and administrative support for the Community Development Department. 

Jhimae earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. A fun fact about Jhimae is that her passion for music, the arts, and history contributes to her sense of wholeness. She lives in St. Louis County with her husband and two daughters, and together they enjoy traveling, exploring local parks and hidden gems throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area, and cultivating remarkable experiences as a family.
