BIOGRAPHY
Niya steps into Invest STL with 20 years of experience as a Public Servant working with non-profit and government service agencies. Her professional background is rooted in civil rights enforcement and advocacy surrounding issues of housing. She is the former Director of Intake and Programs for Metro St. Louis Equal Housing Council where she supported the community at large by advocating for reasonable accommodations in housing, providing technical assistance to participants of affordable housing programs, and investigating complaints of discrimination in housing as afforded by Fair Housing Act. She is a native of St. Louis City. Raised in the Greater Ville Neighborhood, Niya is a graduate of Sumner High School, the first high school east of the Mississippi dedicated to educating Black children, and Harris Stowe-State University, one of two HBCUs located in Missouri. In 2019, Niya became a Neighborhood Leadership Fellow, participating in a community leadership program in partnership with UMSL Extension.
Niya is excited to bring her passion and experience to her role as Neighborhood Solidarity Partner with Invest STL and she sees great opportunity in uplifting and serving the St. Louis community. Niya has two sons who keep her quite busy supporting their various activities and endeavors. She enjoys live music, concerts, traveling, and hosting gatherings with family and friends when she can.
